Happy Halloween!  Two bits of music news I'd like to tell you about.  Amy Winehouse's label Island Records will be posthumously releasing a new album of the singer's unreleased music and I that should be out in December, in time for Christmas.  Also, Justin Bieber will be on the Today show on NBC, this Friday morning.

Meanwhile, here's a video of Tiana Monique, an unsigned 21 year old who also does spoken word, covering Erykah Badu's "Certainly."  She does an awesome job...beautiful vocals.  You should check out some of her other stuff on youtube.

Also, for your Halloween pleasure, this Gagaween video.

Boyz II Men Release "Twenty"; Samuel Pope Cover of "Cry Me a River"

This past week Boyz II Men released their album "Twenty" marking the twentieth anniversary of their recording career. The album features 8 remixes of classics and some new songs like "One Up For Love" with a video featuring images of a troubled America.  It's a nice R&B number and diehard BIIM fans won't be disappointed.
Since Justin Timberlake is concentrating on his movie career, I thought fans might like to hear some actual JT music, so  I found a really good cover of "Cry Me a River" on youtube.  It's done by Londoner Samuel Pope and you can listen to more of his music at www.myspace.com/boywithavoice

Check out the "Cry Me a River" cover.  He's got a really good falsetto and this is definitely one of the better covers of the song.

Justin Bieber on Leno, Ellen and Chelsea

Justin Bieber will be doing the talk show circuit this week, promoting Under the Mistletoe, which will be in stores November 1st.  He'll be on Jay Leno on Halloween night, the Ellen Degeneres Show on Tuesday afternoon, and Chelsea Lately Tuesday night.  Also, I just heard Justin and   Boyz II Men will appear on Dancing With The Stars, but I don't have the date.  You can see the interview he did with Billy Bush above.

I recently came across Harrison Moulton a cute Bieberesque piano player/singer with a sweet tone and an amateur appeal (that is, "unspoiled, natural" and a bunch of other good adjectives).  I had to post this cover of That Should Be Me.  Keep doing what you do, Harrison.

And to tide you over until November 1, here's Justin and Usher working on The Christmas Song.

Alex Goot ? Yep, that's his name.

Hey.  I've been listening to Alex Goot lately. I don't know much about him other than he has a website and he's recording and touring.  If you know anything you can add, feel free to comment.  He's very likeable.

Grace Doty Sings Justin Bieber

OK, I just wanted to take a minute to post a video by an inexplicably-unsigned singer/songwriter from New York named Grace Doty.  She's doing one of my favorite Justin Bieber songs U Smile and I think she has a lovely voice.  I look forward to checking out some of her original stuff on youtube later.  Hope you like her.

Stone Roses Reunite for Tour

I just found out one of my favorite '90's bands, the Stone Roses will be reuniting for a tour.  I don't know the details yet, but I'll try to get a handle on them and post.  I discovered the Stone Roses accidently on my Slacker radio and instantly loved their retro rock sound and dirty guitar.  Unfortunately, they'd already broken up ten years earlier! Sucks....anyhow, I'm gonna post a cover of one of my their bestsongs for you in hopes that you'll love them as much as I do.  Here's the link to the official video. http://youtu.be/ct-qa6SjRZo

Premiere of Justin Bieber's Mistletoe Video and Someone You Should See

Tuesday marked the long-awaited premiere of Justin Bieber's new Christmas video for the single Mistletoe, on MTV. The song, which debut the same day on iTunes, is a slightly Caribbean-sounding, midtempo pop song which will make great background music this Christmas if you get tired of the usual fare. It hit #1 immediately, of course and I'm sure Beliebers, like myself, enjoyed seeing Justin give a snowy nighttime ride in his Porsche to a young, anonymous girl-fan, while the video will probably do nothing to change minds among the haters. Some of the proceeds from the song and the album (which will be released November 1) go to charities including Make-A-Wish and Pencils of Promise. You can also see Justin on New Years Eve when he performs on Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve (ABC).
I watched a couple performances on youtube recently by a young lady named Christina Grimmie who is now signed and professionally managed. She has over 3 million viewers and I'm sure if she's managed correctly she's gonna be really big. Enjoy.

Monday, October 17. Waiting for Justin Bieber's new song Mistletoe to appear on itunes. Can't help thinking about how recently he was discovered on youtube by Scooter Braun, after his mom posted several videos of the kid singing on a couch at him home in...well, you know, it's an old story now.
I really want to discover some new music on the internet and bring it to my blog...a clearinghouse of sorts for the things I discover and like on youtube, and I want to know what other people think. I guess we all think we have a knack for talent, that we'll recognize a potential star if we see one. Only trouble is, if you look on youtube, you'll find thousands of music artists trying to get recognized..trying to be the next Justin.
Let's see what's out there.
